Although we do not have any matches scheduled for those dates, here is a notice from their club manager: "We are having our PCYC at 94 George Street, Hornsby roof replaced in June 2012 and as a result the club will be closed from 1st June – 17th June 2012. We are transferring our Friday night competition matches on 1st, 8th and 15th
June 2012 to our PCYC Performing Arts Centre located at 22 Waitara
Avenue, Waitara. It is the old Hornsby Lawn Bowling Club that
faces on to Edgeworth David Avenue in Waitara and can be accessed from
either Waitara Avenue or Park Road that run off Edgeworth David Ave."
Table Tennis Australia has produced its May issue and would like to have a new title. If your suggestion is adopted, you can win free table tennis equipment from TTA including a table tennis blade, socks and balls. Suggestions can be sent via email to ndim@tabletennis.org.au.
Disabled Athletes Facility 25/4
I
talked to the State director for TT Disabled Athletes at the recent NSW
State Open Championships which made me decide to make our club friendly
or encouraging to the disabled members of our community. On Thursday
nights we will extend the hall hire so that disabled athletes can play
socially and also receive free coaching from our fully qualified coach.
The robot will be specifically reserved from 7-8pm for FREE COACHING
to be provided for disabled athletes such as medically affected
limbed, wheel chair, hearing, sight and mental capacity. Our coach
attended the Sydney Para Olympics and received training / advice in the
Level 1
TTA coaching course on how to be inclusive to disabled members of our
community by providing friendly and encouraging facilities.
The
club is indebted to Bruce Gow
for contributing half the cost of a Y&T double headed robot
which is listed at $2150 from Table Tennis
World and sold to our club at a fabulous discount. The
priority for using the robot is
Members
who help in setting up the tables at 7:00 pm or pack up at the end of
the night. - FREE
Senior
members who selflessly practise with beginners and help with their
technique - FREE
Cherrybrook
Club rep player - FREE
Ordinary
members who donate a gold coin
for the cost of balls (since the robot wears out balls quickly)
Ordinary
members - FREE
Non
club member - donate a gold coin
We
hope that this 'free' equipment will help our club members improve even
quicker, have fun, or for advanced players to practise when no
one of their standard
is around. With the two heads, 2 players can train at the same time.
Enjoy!
The Registration for
coaching program
which starts in mid July 2012 (dates on the form to be updated), is a
great way to improve your
technique no matter what standard you currently are. The current
program is finishing and the 8 students have shown remarkably good
improvement. See how everyone
can get all their
'bing bong' needs and why you
should play at Cherrybrook
We
carry out a free enjoyable handicap comp for winning chocolate prizes.
Due to the district comp being played, the next handicap comp will be
in July but if someone wants to organise it, the club will supply the
prizes.
Coaching
Tip - Play Close to the
Table with the FOREHAND DRIVE
It's important to play close to
the table and this is a typical tactic of the Chinese compared to the
European style. Asian players generally step back to loop only when
necessary.
If you
don't have a shot similar to Ma Long, you are going to
struggle
against A graders. Watch the video below and find tips to copy the
current ranked world no. one.
WELCOME A
warm welcome to club members and potential table tennis players. We are
a very friendly group of 'bing bong' players in a great facility
with 17 quality tables located in a leafy
suburb
approx 20 kms north west of Sydney CBD, Australia.
We
have half a dozen
teams
competing in the Sydney Northern
Districts Table Tennis Assn
competition, good coaching programs, freely given coaching tips/advice
and
support for improvement, free internal social comp's but most
importantly with the club goal of friendliness and help, we hope
you achieve TO
LIVE LONG, PLAY BING-BONG!
The comp is now underway, so here are tips especially for
+40's:
1. Arrive at the venue early so that you do a lot of stretching, have a
solid
break between games, play
physically moderately, drink lots of water and cool down
with a stretch. Do not try to win (yes!) if you partially tear a muscle
or have beginning symptoms of a heart attack. Your health, not the win is most important.
2.
Even if you're physically fit, pay attention to tactics and your mental
approach. Be aware of niggling tactics employed by your opponents and
even if you play by the ITTF rules (esp serving!!) unfortunately the
$20 registration fee cannot provide for professional umpires, there are
local rules which clearly state that the 'decision of the SNDTTA
committee is final' so try to enjoy the benefits of the activity, aim
for self improvement and the opportunity to play against varied
opponents rather than winning percentages. *this
website is trying to 'jazz up' table tennis by including interesting
pictures, however if you feel that the inclusion of such pictures
discriminates females, please email the web master...
EVENTS
Championships 12/5
Click on the Calendar
for the entry forms (if available) to several championships, ensure you
submit the forms by the Closing Date. There are some interesting
championships in Gosford and if you would like to combine a short break
in Canberra, the 2012 Australian Veterans Championships will be
conveniently held there in October - no need to travel interstate!
Club Open Thursdays 1/3
On
Thursday 1 March the club resumed for social, comp and training purposes and
it continues every week until November. For details of the next coaching program
which is run on Thursdays, click

We've
had a good start to the district competition, with most teams winning
handsomely, especially Team XuXin which remains undefeated in Div 2
after the halfway mark.
The draws are available on this website.
To avoid frustration for the captain, team members must advise him ASAP
their availability to play each week. Most of the fixtures have been
updated in the Calendar.
The
tournament was played at the
NSW Sports Centre in excellent and quiet conditions and watching the
live matches showed how much control is needed to play at the highest
level. Power is secondary if your opponent doesn't give you easy shots
to hit hard or you return his/her serves poorly. After
some exciting matches Australia dominated to send the top seeds to represent Oceania. Click to
view the final summary.
Updated
news of the Bennelong Cup, top China players coming to Sydney!
In the calendar above,
the
registration form for competitions (when available) can be obtained by
several means eg clicking the Google icon or double clicking the event.
